The first Waldorf school was founded in Stuttgart in 1919. Today there are over 1,100 Waldorf schools and almost 2,000 Waldorf kindergartens in some 80 countries around the globe and counting.

Rudolf Steiner places the arts at the centre of education to develop the whole child (head, heart and hands), emphasizing imagination, creativity and artistic expression.

2025 marked 50 years of our Steiner School here in Christchurch and our celebrations have continued into this year with a very special event.

Saturday 6th June saw the book launch of The First Fifty Years: 'Extraordinary' 1975-2025, celebrating five decades of Christchurch Rudolf Steiner School through stories, memories, readings, music, and a nostalgic journey woven through the school itself. Written and compiled by special staff alumni Frances Ritchie.

Books are now for sale!
